Villa & Bonaldi s.r.l.

Villa & Bonaldi (V&B) are located at Ricengo in Northern Italy’s industrial zone approximately 45 km from Milan. The factory is positioned with good road transport links and 42 km from the Cremona River harbour which is linked to the sea ports at Ravenna and Porto Marghera, Venice.

V&B was founded in 1906 and for over a century has concentrated the manufacture of Shell & Tube Heat Exchangers for the oil & gas processing, petrochemical, power generation plants and related industries. A combination of proven experience, ability to deliver on time, and a Quality System certified to ISO 9001, ensures that Shell & Tube Heat Exchangers made by V&B will meet the requirements of the 21st century. The V&B factory is equipped to manufacture the largest units capable of transportation by road, and has all the facilities required to produce Shell & Tube Heat Exchangers of every type in a broad range of materials.

The factory is located on a site of 27,000 m2 with a total covered area of 7,400 m2 which are all supported with overhead cranes.

Design

The Engineering Department is capable of preparing the thermal design using well known International computerised programs and the mechanical design in accordance with all International codes of practice including ASME VIII Div.1 and Div.2, ASME 1, BS 5500, AD MERKBLATT, CODAP, STOOMWEZEN, ISPESL, etc., and to International Standards TEMA, API, ANSI, DIN, AFNOR, UNI etc.

Manufacture

(The entire production cycle is performed by the company on its own premises)

• Semi-finished products such as plates, forgings and tubes are purchased from selected &qualified suppliers
• Cutting and rolling machines are used for preparation of the plates
• Computerised machining centres used to turn forgings and drill tube sheets
• Up to date equipment for manual and automatic welding with procedures &staff qualified &skilled to handle all normally treated materials such as carbon steel, killed carbon steel for low temperatures, low-alloy steel, medium-alloy steel, austenitic and ferritic and duplex stainless steel, clad steel, copper alloys, nickel alloys and titanium
• Post heat treatment operations
• Blasting and coating

The company has perfected the skill of making faultless weld deposits starting from wire under gas and strip under flux to produce clad materials by weld overlay.

The construction of the tube bundle is closely followed at each and every step. Tube sheets &baffles are always in compliance with the strictly defined &stringently controlled tolerances. "U" hairpins are produced in a special workshop equipped with bending system capable of complying with standards even for small radiuses. Tubes are fixed to tube sheets utilizing two methods: expanding & welding. In expanding, the force is controlled electronically and calibration continuously monitored. Welding is performed either manually or by computerized guns.
